Day 1

Bangkok - Uthai Thani

Set out to explore the fascinating UNESCO World Heritage city of Ayutthaya, which was the Siamese capital and a thriving international trading port from 1350 until 1767, when it was sacked by Burmese invaders. Stroll through the city's well-planned streets to see magnificent palaces and monasteries that were once the best in the world. Continue through lush countryside to a famous drum-making village, where you'll have the chance to see the entire construction process. Natural cosmetics and aromatherapy have been present in Thai homes for centuries and you will see how ingredients for tinctures and essential oils are obtained from various plants through gentle traditional extraction processes.

Lunch at a riverside market famous for the gingerbread that adorns local homes and shops and has received a UNESCO award for the conservation of its heritage. The most stunning temple in Thailand is, without a doubt, in Uthai Thani. See the impressive Crystal Temple and, next to it, the mind-blowing Golden Temple.

Day 2

Uthai Thani - Sawankhalok

As the sun rises, people are willing to make merit by donating food or giving alms to the monks to help maintain the monastic community. Take part in the traditional flag raising during breakfast at your hotel.

Thailand's intriguing history serves as an elegant backdrop to everyday life, from the beautiful architecture to traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. Travel back in time at Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park, an ancient advanced city during the Sukhothai period. Don't miss the local specialty, "egg bananas", undoubtedly the most aromatic in Thailand. After lunch, travel through some of Thailand's most picturesque landscapes to Sukhothai, a model of classic Thai aesthetics. The structures are extraordinarily well preserved: the large garden is dotted with beautiful chedis, pagodas and wats, amidst serene and lush vegetation.

Enjoy a delicious Thai dinner tonight at a local restaurant famous for its typical architecture and authentic Thai food.

Day 3

Sukhothai - Chiang Mai

Start your day with one of Thailand's most scenic drives through forests and rice paddies. Traditional weaving is an integral part of Thai culture. Handmade fabrics are used in the countryside daily and especially on important social occasions. Cotton and silk weavers, who produce the finest fabrics, are respected throughout the world. Experience the unique lifestyle and culture of the Karen and other tribes in protected areas supported by real projects.

Visit one of Thailand's most impressive temples in Lamphun, featuring different styles from various eras. It features the world's largest bronze gong and a golden chedi that is a textbook example of Lanna architecture.

Day 4

Chiang Mai

Take a rickshaw to the heart of the original 14th-century city. Wat Sri Supan, located in the city's traditional silver-making district, is an important crafts center and helps preserve the silver-making tradition of this area of Chiang Mai. See ancient craftsman techniques being passed on to the new generation of goldsmiths at the Lanna Center for the Study of Ancient Arts.

Enjoy a traditional lunch at a local restaurant and then return to your hotel.

Depart the hotel in the late afternoon to see a mystical temple in a forest with trees bearing words of wisdom. The next stop is near the top of Doi Suthep Mountain. Catch the special light when the sun sets emitting a beautiful golden glow. Enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the sparkling city of Chiang Mai at night.

Day 5

Chiang Mai - Golden Triangle

Early departure to Chiang Rai, stopping at the sulfur hot springs. Visit the spectacular White Temple-style art exhibition. Drive through beautiful countryside to the Golden Triangle, where Burma, Laos and Thailand converge. This region is a melting pot of ethnic groups. After lunch, take a ride on a long-tail boat. Cruise the waterways enjoying the passing landscape and having the unique opportunity to be close to three countries and countless cultures at the same time. Come back to earth and discover the most infamous side of the Golden Triangle's history at the Opium Museum. After this day full of history, return to Chiang Rai filled with fabulous memories of the region.
